The Practice has been operating from the Griffith Shops since 1983. We try to achieve a balance between high level of professional expertise, and a friendly personal service.
We recognise our professional role as both prevention and rehabilitation. We emphasise education both as part of individual treatments and to the wider community through a range of programs.
We are skilled to treat those of all ages of the community.
Physiotherapy is an effective, natural medical treatment option offered to all Australians to improve quality of life.
After taking a full history from you, assessing and diagnosing problems, physiotherapists plan and administer treatment programs aimed at restoring function or minimising dysfunction after disease or injury in consultation with yourself.
Physiotherapists strive to improve an individual’s quality of life by physical means using a combination of manual therapy, movement training including specific exercises and electro physical agents.
A large part of individual treatment is education of the patient to assist understanding of their current condition and the prevention of future physical problems.
Appointments can be made by telephoning on (02) 6295 7563.
Normally we can see you on the same or following day. In urgent cases, as with acute pain and injury, or respiratory conditions, we make every effort to see you immediately.
The initial consultation takes approximately 40 minutes, with subsequent standard treatment times taking around 30 minutes. Some conditions require longer times.
For private patients, referral from a medical practitioner is not necessary for you to receive physiotherapy.
However, for worker’s compensation, or third party matters, you will require referral from your doctor to ensure your account is paid.
When you come to us with a referral, we like to work closely with your doctor, medical specialist or other health professional.
A portion of physiotherapy fees are rebated if you have private health insurance and ancillary (Extra) cover.
Our HICAPS facility allows you to claim your benefit at the time of treatment.
We require at least 4 business hours if you would like to cancel an appointment. If you do not provide this notice you may be charged a non attendance fee.
We have a close association with a number of local sporting clubs:
• Old Canberrans Hockey Club
• ACT Orienteering Association
