Physiotherapists

Maureen Bailey, the Practice principal, graduated from The West Australian Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) in 1974.

She has worked both overseas and interstate and has special interests in sports, women’s health, musculoskeletal dysfunctions, orthopaedic rehabilitation and occupational health.

Maureen has been an Australian Physiotherapy Association member since graduation and served on the ACT Branch Council for a total of nine years. She has also been a member of the Registration Board. Maureen is currently a member of the Ergonomics Society of Australia, Continence Foundation of Australia and Sports Medicine Association.

The practice is constantly evolving and Maureen drives this process. For example our latest direction is with the addition of an Ultrasound for muscle retraining.

Maureen has travelled as team physiotherapist with hockey teams.

When not working Maureen is involved with hockey and orienteering, as a supporter, watcher of her children and a participant. She escapes it all by walking her dogs, reading and listening to music.

Gosia Scislowski joined the practice in July 2005 after moving to Canberra. She graduated 11 years ago from Cumberland College in Sydney and has worked in both the public and private sectors. Her treatment techniques include manual therapy, spinal, sports, exercise prescription and Pilates - she has a Level 1 Clinical Pilates qualification. Her lively personality is a positive for all her patients and colleagues.

Gosia has a keen interest in skiing, (she has run Get Fit to Ski classes) bushwalking and many other energetic activities.

Caroline McCabe joined us at the end of March 2009. She completed her physiotherapy degree in Melbourne in 1988 and Caroline subsequently gained a postgraduate qualification in Orthopaedics in Adelaide. She has extensive experience in sports, musculoskeletal and ante and post natal areas in both the public and private sectors.
Caroline is currently working two sessions a week on Tuesday and Friday. She is also working at John James Hospital in Orthopaedics and Maternity on Monday and Thursday. This enables Caroline to have continuity to manage any musculoskeletal problems from the antenatal period through to postnatal checks and assistance with appropriate return to previous exercise regimes

When not at work Caroline is involved with her family including her two primary age children and enjoys Pilates, tennis and keeping fit.

Joanne Collins started with us in mid May 2009. Joanne has a degree in human movement (Sports Science) and then completed her Physiotherapy degree graduating from Curtin University in W.A. in 2005. She has had hospital and private practice experience in both W.A. and Tasmania including some sports coverage. Joanne’s interest lies in acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions including groups such as postural/work related, sporting and the elderly. She is passionate about holistic and preventative treatment strategies and encourages the role of exercise in recovery. Joanne continues to increase her skills and experience, recently attending courses on the use of the Ultrasound for hip and pelvic rehabilitation and current theories on tendonopathy exercise regimes. Joanne is currently working on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

When not working Joanne is very active including bike riding, rock climbing and bush walking.

Office Staff

Carla Carnegie runs a very efficient office and has an enormous corporate knowledge. She has been with the practice since 1988 and has the unenviable task of keeping us all in order!!

Carla has a wonderful ability to remember everyone who passes through and makes all welcome. When not at work Carla likes to escape to her van at the coast and is currently planning the trip of a lifetime…..who knows where and when!!

Kathryn Russell is our office face when Carla is off exploring. She has a background in nursing and when not helping us out runs the family business.

Kathryn spends her spare time, at least some of it, watching her sons play hockey and plays a mean Goalie herself at times!!
